Communitrak sends three kinds of email, and they follow different rules. Knowing which kind you are dealing with answers most questions about why an email did or did not arrive.
Everyone with a Communitrak account can review and change their own notification settings. Each member controls their own preferences, so a Community Leader cannot turn notifications on or off on someone else's behalf.
Account emails cover your invitation, password resets, verification codes, and two-factor security messages. These always send. There is no setting that turns them off, because without them you could not get into your account.
Notices cover charges, assessments, violations, and architectural review deadlines. These reach you even if you have not finished setting up your account, so you are never left unaware of something you owe or a deadline you need to meet.
Community activity covers bulletin board posts, messages, comments, and changes to events you are attending. These are the emails you control in your notification settings.
Click your name or avatar in the top-right corner and choose Account.
Open the Notifications tab.
Each row is one kind of notification, with separate switches for email, push, and in some cases text message.
Changes save as soon as you flip a switch. There is no separate save button.
Note: Your preferences belong to your membership, not to your login. If you belong to more than one community, or to more than one household, each has its own settings. Switch to the community you want to change first.
Nobody has invited you yet. If your board has added the roster but has not sent invitations, you will not hear from Communitrak until they do. Boards often import their member list well before they are ready to announce the community.
Your community has not launched. While a community is still being set up, nothing goes out to its members.
You turned it off. Check the Notifications tab. This applies to community activity and to notices, but never to account emails.
Your address has been bouncing. If several messages could not be delivered, or if a previous email was reported as spam, sending stops. Continuing to send to a dead address damages delivery for everyone else in your community.
You have left the community. Community activity stops when your membership ends. Notices about outstanding charges continue, because leaving does not settle a balance.
When you change your email address, it stays unverified until you confirm it. During that time you still receive notices, but without the details. You will be told that something needs your attention and asked to sign in, rather than having the specifics sent to an address that has not been confirmed yet.
This protects you if the new address was mistyped. Verifying it restores the full emails.
Members who have been invited but have not yet created a password still receive notices in full, so a charge or a violation never goes unseen. For community activity, Communitrak sends a short message letting you know there is something waiting, at most once a day, rather than sending the content itself to an account that cannot open it.
Everything sent while you were setting up is waiting for you in the app once you finish. Nothing is lost.
Text message and email preferences are separate. Turning off charge emails does not turn off charge texts, and the reverse is also true.
Most email preferences are on by default. Text message preferences for charges and payments are off by default and must be turned on.
Community Leaders have extra notification rows for the things they are responsible for, such as new requests, new violations, and payments received. These appear only for members who hold the matching permissions.
If you are not receiving email you expect and your settings look correct, check your spam folder before contacting support. Adding [email protected] to your contacts helps.
