The Pet Directory is a photo directory of the pets in your community. Each household registers its own pets, and anyone who finds a loose dog or cat can look through the directory to see whose it is and how to reach the owner.
Any member of a household can add, edit, and remove that household's pets. You don't need to be the Head of Household. Browsing the directory requires the View Pet Directory permission, which residents have by default.
The Pet Directory only appears once your community turns on the Pets module. If you don't see it in the main navigation menu, ask your board.
Some options may be unavailable or appear differently depending on your level of account access.
Log in to Communitrak at https://app.communitrak.com.
In the main navigation menu, expand My Household and click Pets.
Click Add Pet, or Add First Pet if you haven't added one yet.
Under Photos, click Add and choose a photo. Drag the frame to position it, then click Use Photo.
Check the details Communitrak filled in from your photo, and change anything that's off:
Name (required)
Type: Dog, Cat, Bird, or Other.
Breed and Color
Description: markings, temperament, whether they're microchipped, and anything else that would help a neighbor.
Add more photos if you like, up to six. Click a photo to make it the Cover, which is the one shown in the directory.
Click Add Pet.
You can also click Add Pet at the top of the Pet Directory.
Filling in details from your photo is available when your community has AI features turned on. Otherwise, enter the details yourself.
Every pet is listed in the Pet Directory unless you turn it off. To keep a pet private, open it, click Edit, and turn off Show in Pet Directory. Your household still sees the pet under My Household, marked Hidden.
Click Pet Directory in the main navigation menu.
Use the tabs to show All, Dogs, Cats, Birds, or Other.
Search by name, breed, color, owner, or street.
Click a pet's photo to see everything about it.
The pet's page shows all of its photos, its description and details, and who owns it. Depending on what each owner has chosen to share, you'll see their address and a phone or email button. Owner details follow the same privacy settings as the Community Members directory.
If you find a loose pet, Communitrak can compare a photo of it with the pets in the directory.
Open the Pet Directory and click Found a Pet?.
Click Take or choose a photo and take a photo of the animal. Communitrak selects the kind of animal for you; change it if it's wrong.
Click Find Matches.
Compare the possible matches with your photo. Each is marked Likely match or Possible match, with a short note on what looks the same.
When you find the right pet, click This Is the Pet.
Write a Message saying where you found them and where they are now, then click Notify Owner.
Found a Pet? is available when your community has AI features turned on. If you don't see it, or no match comes up, browse the directory yourself. When you spot the pet, open it and click I Found This Pet to send the same notification.
The household gets a Communitrak message from you with your photo attached, and can reply to you there. Your phone number and email address aren't shared.
If your community doesn't use the Messages module, the household is emailed instead, with your name and photo. In that case you can add Your phone number (optional) so the owner can call you.
If your community requires records such as rabies vaccinations or pet licenses, you'll keep them with each pet.
Open the pet from My Household > Pets.
Under Health & License Records, click Manage.
Under Required by your community, click Add next to a missing record, or Renew next to one that's expired or expiring soon.
Fill in the record. Only Name is required, but add the Expires date so you get reminders, and click Attach to add a PDF or photo of the certificate.
Click Add Record.
Each required record shows as Current, Expires soon (within 30 days), Expired, or Missing. A pet with a missing or expired required record is marked Needs records on its photo. You can also add records your community doesn't require, using Add Record.
If your community has turned on reminders, your household gets an email and a notification before a record expires, 7 days before, on the day it expires, and once more after it lapses.
Records are never shown in the Pet Directory. Only your household and the people your community has given access to records can see them.
Open the pet and click Edit to change its details or photos, or Remove to take it off your household. Removing asks you to confirm first and also deletes the pet's photos and records.
Each household can register up to 10 pets, with up to six photos each.
Pets belong to a household, not to you personally. If you belong to more than one household, switch to the one you mean using the household switcher at the bottom of the main navigation menu.
A pet only appears in the directory if at least one of its owners is visible there. If everyone in your household has hidden themselves from the Community Members directory, your pets are hidden too.
Found a Pet? allows 10 photo searches and 5 owner notifications per person each day.
