Reviewing Access Control Logs

See who opened which door and how, review device and admin activity, filter by date, and export the log to a spreadsheet.

The Logs page shows the activity recorded by your UniFi Access hardware: every door opening, along with device alerts and changes made by administrators. Use it to answer questions like who was at the pool after hours, or whether a resident's new card is working.

Who can do this

This requires the Manage Access Control permission, and your community needs Access Control turned on with a registered bridge.

Some options may be unavailable or appear differently depending on your level of account access.

View the logs

  1. Log in to Communitrak at https://app.communitrak.com.

  2. In the main navigation menu, expand Access Control and click Access Logs.

  3. Choose what to look at from the topic menu. It starts on Door Openings.

  4. Pick a date range. The page shows the last 7 days until you change it. Click Clear dates to go back to that.

The topics are:

  • Door Openings: every time someone opened a door.

  • Critical: events UniFi Access flags as critical.

  • Device Events: readers and hubs going offline, coming back, or reporting problems.

  • Admin Activity: changes made to the system, including ones made through Communitrak.

  • Visitor: activity from visitors set up in UniFi Access.

  • Updates: firmware and software updates on your hardware.

Reading an entry

Each row shows the Member, the Event, any Details such as the door or reader, and the Time.

Under the member's name you'll see how they got in, for example NFC Card, PIN Code, Touch Pass (iPhone), Mobile App, or Remote Unlock. Wave to Exit means someone used the exit sensor on the inside of a door, so no person is recorded. Unknown means the hardware couldn't match the credential to a person.

Click Refresh to load the newest entries. Use the page controls at the bottom to move through long results, showing 25, 50, or 100 entries at a time.

Export to a spreadsheet

Click Export CSV to download the current topic and date range as a CSV file you can open in Excel or Google Sheets. Large ranges can take up to a minute to prepare.

Things to know

  • Logs come straight from your UniFi Access hardware through the bridge, so the page can't load new entries while the bridge is offline.

  • For one door's recent activity, open the door from the System page instead. It shows the last 7 days for that door alone.
