Communitrak includes optional AI tools that help you write and catch up faster: polishing a post, suggesting a subject line, drafting a reply, or summarizing a long conversation. Wherever you see the sparkle icon, AI can help. AI never sends or posts anything for you, and your text doesn't change until you accept a suggestion.
Who can do this
Anyone in a community with AI features turned on can use the AI tools in the places they can already write. Turning AI features on or off for the community requires the Update Community Preferences permission.
Some options may be unavailable or appear differently depending on your level of account access.
Writing assist in the editor
The formatted text editor, used for bulletin board posts, messages, replies, articles, and requests, has a sparkle button in its toolbar.
Write your text, or select the part you want to change.
Click the sparkle button in the editor toolbar.
Choose what to do: Improve writing, Fix spelling & grammar, Shorten, Lengthen, Rephrase, or Change tone to Professional, Friendly, or Direct.
Review the AI suggestion. Click Accept to use it, Regenerate for another version, or Discard to keep your original.
Other places AI can help
Subjects and titles: click the sparkle button next to the subject of a new message or bulletin board post, or the title or subheading of an article, and Communitrak writes one from what you've written.
Alerts: click the sparkle button next to Alert Message to condense your text into a short alert that fits the 120-character limit, which also keeps a text-message alert to a single message.
Reply drafts: when replying to a message, click the sparkle button next to Your Reply for a draft based on the conversation so far. Edit it before you send.
Summaries: on a long message thread or a request or violation, click Summarize for a short paragraph covering what it's about, where it stands, and what's still open.
Pets: when you add a pet, Communitrak fills in its type, breed, color, and description from your photo. Found a Pet? compares a photo of a loose pet with the Pet Directory to suggest likely owners.
AI suggestions can be wrong. Read what it wrote before you accept or send it, especially names, dates, and amounts.
What it costs
Each AI request has a small cost, and your Communitrak subscription includes a monthly AI credit that most communities never use up. When a community reaches its limit, the AI buttons pause until the limit resets, and everything else keeps working. Usage is shown on the AI Usage card under Community > Billing, where anyone with the Manage AI Usage permission can choose whether to allow billed overage. The billing article covers the credit, limits, and overage in detail.
Turn AI features off
Log in to Communitrak at https://app.communitrak.com.
In the main navigation menu, expand Community and click Preferences.
Under General Settings, uncheck Enable AI Features.
The change takes effect right away. Every sparkle button, Summarize, pet photo auto-fill, and Found a Pet matching disappear for everyone in the community, and Communitrak refuses AI requests for the community even if one is attempted another way. No community content is sent to an AI service while the setting is off. Check the box again to turn AI back on.
Things to know
When you use an AI tool, the text or photo involved is sent to Communitrak's AI provider, Anthropic, to produce the result. Nothing is sent until you click an AI button. Our Sub-Processors page lists the services that handle your community's data.
AI never sends or posts anything on its own. You always review the suggestion, and nothing changes until you accept it.
The photo you take for Found a Pet? is only used to look for a match. It isn't saved unless you send it to an owner.
If an AI button is grayed out, hover over it. Your community may have reached its AI limit, and the tooltip says when AI features resume.
If you have questions or need help, chat with Communitrak Support from any page using the messenger icon in the bottom-right corner.
