Posting a Charge to a Member or Household

Post a one-time charge, such as a fee or reimbursement, to a single member or household from their profile.

Use a single charge when something applies to one resident or household, such as a key fob replacement, a reimbursement, or a correction. To charge many households at once, see Posting Bulk Charges.

Who can do this

Posting a charge requires the Create a Charge permission and the View Community Financials permission. Some options may be unavailable or appear differently depending on your level of account access.

Before you begin

  • The Financial module must be turned on and payments must be enabled. See Enabling Payments.

Post a charge from a member profile

  2. In the main navigation menu, expand Members & Groups and click Community Members.

  3. Click the member's name.

  4. In the Financial section of the actions panel, click New Charge.

  5. In the Create New Charge dialog, enter the Charge Description, Charge Amount, and Due Date.

  6. Click Create Charge.

Heads up: Charges can't be edited after they're created. To correct a mistake, void the charge in Charge Management and post a new one.

What happens next

  • The charge appears on the household's Payments page and counts toward its balance. Every member of the household can see and pay it.

  • The member is notified within a few minutes, by email, text, or push, based on their New Charges notification settings. Single charges always send this notification; there's no option to skip it.

  • If the household is enrolled in Auto Pay, the charge is paid automatically on its due date.

Things to know

  • Charges belong to the household. Choosing a member records who the charge is for, but anyone in the household can pay it.

  • To see everything posted to a household, click View Transactions on the member or household profile.

  • Violation fines are posted from the violation itself, and amenity fees are charged when a resident books. You don't need to post those by hand.

  • If you set a due date in the past, Auto Pay won't pay the charge. Residents need to pay it from the Payments page.
